{"id":901068,"date":"2026-07-07T11:07:00","date_gmt":"2026-07-07T02:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/okumasa.okinawa\/2026\/07\/07\/beautifully-it-circulates\/"},"modified":"2026-07-07T11:56:35","modified_gmt":"2026-07-07T02:56:35","slug":"beautifully-it-circulates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/okumasa.okinawa\/en\/2026\/07\/07\/beautifully-it-circulates\/","title":{"rendered":"Beautifully, It Circulates."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What is beauty?<br\/>I have kept asking that question.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is not splendor, nor rarity.<br\/>Nor is it simply being well arranged.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is water flowing, and wind passing through.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The old yielding to the new,<br\/>what was lost returning in another form.<br\/>Beauty lives within that movement.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This island teaches us that.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:32px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a small world, you can see where water goes.<br\/>What happens in the fields flows to the sea.<br\/>What happens in the sea returns to the table.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cause and effect cannot escape far away.<br\/>Small acts, circling back again and again, return as flavor and trust.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The taste of the island is a record of that circulation.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The scent of soil.<br\/>The clarity of water.<br\/>The suppleness of wind.<br\/>The time that has been lived there.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Something that cannot be explained by freshness alone lives there.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:32px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Humans, too, grow by taking in their environment.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What words we have been bathed in, what people we have been surrounded by, what we have seen, and what we have pretended not to see.<br\/>Over time, these things appear in a person\u2019s face and conduct.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Titles, words, appearances.<br\/>People can decorate and wrap themselves.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But in a small world, that does not last long.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When trouble comes, when loss comes.<br\/>When someone grows weak.<br\/>What a person does then reveals who they really are.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Has suffering ended only as hatred toward someone?<br\/>Has disappointment become a reason to give up on everything?<br\/>Has responsibility become armor used only to justify oneself?<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What stops begins to rot.<br\/>Only what moves can deepen.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:32px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A small world is not beautiful simply because it is small.<br\/>Rumors travel fast, the past does not disappear, and mood often wins over what is right.<br\/>Those in weaker positions are silenced.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Smallness is not goodness.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Is the water moving?<br\/>Is the wind passing through?<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Everything appears there.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:32px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Time is needed.<br\/>But time alone is not enough.<br\/>People, too, do not grow all at once.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At first, people are shaped by their surroundings.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The earth, water, family, era, and human relationships.<br\/>We are nurtured, wounded, and formed by such things.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But at some point,<br\/>people themselves begin to become the surroundings that shape others.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:32px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A small world cannot be faked.<br\/>That is why it can be painful and cruel.<br\/>And yet, at times, something astonishingly deep grows there.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beauty means not stopping.<br\/>It means changing, and continuing.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beautifully, it circulates.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People, too, can live that way.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is beauty?I have kept asking that question.
